Rinnai 650 Gas Log Fireplace

Sleek, cosy, and romantic, nothing quite compares to the timeless appeal of a log fire flame.

According to a report by Energy Networks Australia, over 18 million residential gas appliances are used across the country, and residential gas consumption in winter is over four times the consumption in summer. Despite their effectiveness, many traditional gas heating systems came with two major issues; safety and high running costs. Thankfully, newer gas log fires are both safe and far more energy-efficient than their counterparts of the past.

For over 50 years, Rinnai has supplied Australian homes with various appliances that help people to lead safe and comfortable lifestyles. With heating systems purpose designed for modern homes and businesses, Rinnai continues to create high-quality products that combine style with state-of-the-art heating technology.

Whether you want to retrofit a gas log fire into your existing fireplace or fit one into a newly built home, there’s never been a better time to invest in a brand new Rinnai log fire. Let’s explore why right now.

Types of Rinnai Gas Log Fires

Rinnai manufactures a wide range of gas log fires that come with their own distinctive features and benefits. Here are some of the best options available today.

650 and 750

As seen on 2022 season of The Block, Rinnai’s 650 and 750 series replicate the look and feel of a traditional log fire, yet come with cutting-edge ember bed technology that can be activated with the simple push of a button. Both options are also purpose designed to suit existing fireplaces with narrow dimensions, making them ideal for smaller living rooms and bedrooms.

Other notable features include

  • 6kW heat output
  • Double-glazed fronts without a mesh guard
  • A variety of fascia options
  • Optional Wi-Fi,
  • Natural wood or glowing stones.

While both the 650 and 750 share an energy rating of 3.7 stars, the 750 is slightly larger and available at an overall width of 740cm. Once they’re up and running, cou can also tweak the room temperature display and flame control as you see fit with a remote control that’s simple and easy to use.

Flue installation options include in-built or freestanding, as well as vertical or horizontal masonry, a vertical, vertical offset or horizontal false fireplace, or a weatherproof box by reducing the internal footprint requirements of the heater engine.

950

While more expensive than the 650 or 750, Rinnai’s 950 models offer excellent energy efficiency and heat output. This includes 5.5 energy star ratings, and heat output that can reach 8.1kW. As a result, the 950 is well suited for larger rooms or properties with open plan layouts.

Other key features of the 950 are:

  • 2 different log fire options (Australian eucalyptus or Pebbles)
  • 2 unique fascia options (stainless steel on black or black on black)
  • A safety mesh guard that offers peace of mind and eliminate reflections
  • Optional WiFi
  • Flexible power flueing

1250

Coming in at a width of just over 1300 cm, the expansive 1250 log fire offers similar efficiency and output to the 950, yet pushes the boundaries of gas log fire design with a range of truly innovative in-built features. Due to its size and scope, this model can efficiently heat large open spaces in the blink of an eye.

The 1250 offers:

Inspired by the Sapphire, the SS850 is a modern gas fire that is stylish, versatile, and perfect for most homes. Rinnai Gas Log Fires – Installation Options

Across the board, Rinnai gas log fires are characterised by a sleek modern aesthetic that allows them to seamlessly blend in with various indoor environments. Once you’ve settled on a specific model, the next step is to weigh up your options for installation.

The good news is that Rinnai offers options to accommodate various different fireplace setups, as well as freestanding models for homes that lack the necessary wall space.

Creating a False Fireplace

Whether you’re building a new family home, working on a major renovation, or just want a small change, the good news is that gas log fires are highly adaptable. If your home has no existing fireplace, a false fireplace design is the next best thing!

Gas log fireplaces can be safely installed into a timber frame or combustible materials, including the Rinnai 1250 and 950 series, which are both designed with a zero-clearance box.

A Weatherproof Box

Want an alternative to a false fireplace? The Rinnai  1250, 950, 750, and 650 can all be installed into a weatherproof box.

In this situation, a cavity is cut into the existing blank wall, which allows the fireplace to be installed onto a bracket. The fire is then built into an existing wall without taking up extra space in a room.

Existing Masonry Fireplaces

Do you have an existing fireplace that’s been there for decades? Make it look more modern by installing a gas fire heater into an existing brick chimney!

Turn an outdated gas or electric heater into a stunning feature, creating the ultimate solution for comfortable living during those icy nights. The Rinnai Slimfire, Sapphire, 650 and 750 are designed to suit existing masonry fireplaces.

Updating Your Heating Systems

With all that we now know about the dangers of open flue gas heaters and wood-burning fireplaces, upgrading to these more safe and modern alternatives has become a no brainer for Australian homeowners. And while there are plans to gradually phase out gas based appliances, newer systems are far more efficient and eco friendly than ever before.

What’s more, a gas log fires also allows you to receive a stunning flickering flame while no heating mode is even activated! All the while, your home will be safer and your power bills will be lower. It’s safe to say that it’s a win win.
